Chartered Accountants are the extended arms of the Banks – Popere

The month of April is going to be very tough for Chartered Accountants as well as the Bankers as they have to do a major task which will benefit the banking system and the society at large. The society has lot of expectations and confidence on the banking system for which CA’s have to work with lot of social responsibility along with the professional. CA’s should also work as a guide which will help the bankers to perform the work to the best of their abilities. It will not be an exaggeration to say that Chartered Accountants are the extended arms of the Banks, said Chandrakant Popere, Deputy General Manager of Bank of India. He was speaking as the chief guest at the full day seminar on Bank Branch Audit organised by Nagpur Branch of ICAI. He added that after demonetization lot many things are required to be checked by the Chartered Accountants. They should work hard as an Auditor and should report the issues at the ground level to the higher authorities. It’s good to see the large number of Chartered Accountants attending the seminar to equip themselves before the season starts for which he congratulated the branch for organising the seminar for the benefit of members at the apt time.

Earlier, CA. Abhijit Kelkar, Regional Council Member in his brief remarks informed that the cooling period was applicable in 33 districts across the country. After the new amendment, cooling period is going to be applicable across the country and this will ensure equal distribution of Audit to all firms across the country. This will create equivalent opportunity to all the CA firms.

CA. Sandeep Jotwani, Chairman of Nagpur Branch of ICAI in his welcome remarks mentioned that another few days will be very tough for CA’s because of March ending followed by Bank Branch Audit. In a span of few days lot of things are to be completed by professionals. Such seminars will help our members to perform their duties to the best of their abilities. He informed the members present about various new initiatives of Nagpur Branch along with the forthcoming programs.

In this program, CA. Amarjit Chopra from New Delhi deliberated on Audit of Advances, CA. Ajay Jain from Gurgaon deliberated on Restrucuturing of Advances and IRAC norms whereas CA. Abhijit Sanzgiri spoke on Bank Branch Audit under CBS Environment.

CA. Umang Agrawal co-ordinated the Inaugural session whereas CA. Swapnil Ghate and CA. Sanjay Agrawal co-ordinated the Technical Sessions. CA. Jaydeep Shah and CA. Mahesh Rathi chaired the technical sessions. Prominently present were JIten Saglani, Kirit Kalyani, Julfesh Shah, Swapnil Agrawal, Preetam Batra, Deepak Jethwani, Saurabh Kasturiwale, Govind Batra and members in large numbers.
