Nagpur: Mayor Pravin Datke said in coming days along with education, Nagpur City which is the heart of the country will be known as sports hub. He was speaking during the valedictory function of 15-day athletics camp that was organised by Chaitanya Sports, Yoga and Cultural Foundation at Ishwar Dehmukh College of Physical Education (IDCPE) auditorium on Sunday.
Dadoji Konddeo awardee Bhau Kane, DSO Vijay Santan, IDCPE principal Dr Anil Karwande, NMC Standing Committee chairman Bandu Raut and athletics coach Dhananjay Kane also shared the dais.
Speaking further Datke said the work of synthetic athletics track will be completed within next three months in the city. ” NMC recently has handed over 141 acre land to SAI for the regional sports centre and the first phase work worth ` 78 crore will start soon”.
He also informed that in coming days Nagpur Municipal Corporation is hosting kho-kho national championship.
Dr Karwande and Vijay Santan also spoke on the occasion. President of the foundation Bhau Kane spoke about the objective behind organising the camp.
He informed that 19 boys and 12 girls have been selected during the camp for further scientific training.
Noted athletics coach Dhananjay Kane and Jitendra Ghordadekar imparted the training to the participants at IDCPE and SB City Ground. Bhau Kane, Prashant Jagtap, Shirish Bhagat, Prashant Ulabhaje, Naresh Shelke and Charulata Naigaonkar-Behre worked hard for the success of programme.

Boys: Aman Dube, Pankesh Uikey, Rounak Lokhande, Mayur Shende, Prathmesh Kottewar, Shrirang Ulabhaje, Amol Jayaswal, Tanuk Gurnule, Abdul Karim, Rigved Ritpurkar, Aditya ghichare, Tejas Nikule, Salipesh Bawne, Ayush Dekate, Kunal Ritpurkar, Gargeya Tarsekar, Pranav Nagose, Gourav Atkare and Soham Shrawankar.
Girls: Astha Choudhary, Darshana Dayre, Mohini Bhute, Jayashri Borkar, Devashri Lave, Mitali Bhoyar, Babli Bedi, Chaitali Borekar Sneha Shebe, Bhavyashri Mahalle, Akansha Soudia and Astha NJimbarte. Budding athletes with dignitaries during concluding function of camp organised by Chaitanya Yoga, Sports and Cultural Foundation at IDCPE on Sunday.
