Nagpur: A teenage boy who attempted to snatch gold chain of a woman and molested her was arrested by a team of Crime Branch Unit 5 on Sunday.
The complainant woman, residing in Yashodhara Nagar police jurisdiction, had told police that she was speaking with her friend on mobile phone around 3.25 pm on Saturday. Suddenly, an unidentified person riding Honda Activa moped accosted her and tried to snatch gold chain she was wearing around her neck. However, the woman fought back and foiled the attempt of the chain snatcher. Enraged by this, the accused outraged her modesty by indulging in vulgar acts.
Acting on the complaint of the woman, a team of Crime Branch Unit 5 started investigation. The team received a secret information that a teenage boy could be the suspect. Accordingly, cops detained the accused Abdul Shoeb Sheikh Sajid Sheikh (19), resident of Plot No. 8, behind Maruti Showroom, Sangharsh Nagar, and interrogated him extensively. The accused spilled the beans and confessed the crime. Cops seized the Honda Activa moped worth Rs 50,000 used in the crime by the accused.
The arrest was made by API Pramod Ghonge, API Anil Meshram, PSI Sanjay Mishra, constables Rajesh Yadav, Mangesh Lande, Ajay Baghel, NPCs Dinesh Chafelkar, Ravi Shahu, Namdeo Tekam, Sunil Thavkar, Anil Bawne, Narendra Thakur, Utkarsh Raut under the guidance of DCP (Detection) Nilesh Bharne and ACP Sudhir Nandanwar.
