Centre to shut down 65 engineering colleges, 5 from Maharashtra

Nagpur: All India Council for Technical Education has decided to shut down 65 engineering colleges from upcoming session out of which 5 belong to Maharashtra. The decision has been taken after considering 27 lakh vacant seats in various colleges all over the nation.

AICTE has also declared that considering low admissions, 800 colleges of various streams will be shut down. A list of engineering colleges to be closed has also been declared by AICTE. The colleges which have had admissions lower than 30 percent of total seats in past five years, will either be shut down or merged with other colleges.
