Central sector scheme of Scholarship for college and University Students
This scheme has been introduced by the Ministry of Human Resources Development, Department of Higher Education, Government of India. Under this scheme, the central government will provide a total of 8200 scholarships for meritorious Class XII (or its equivalent in India) students from economically backward classes, for their entire graduation. The total funds are divided between CBSE, ICSE and State Boards students of each state, based on the population of each state.
Within each board, scholarships are divided between the Science, Commerce and Humanities streams on 3:2:1 basis. For professional courses, the scholarship provides Rs. 2000 for on the final two years, and Rs. 1000 on the remaining years. For core graduation courses, the scholarship pays Rs. 1000 for the first three years.
