Nagpur: The Central Board of Secondary Education CBSE has preponed the last date for changing the subject for class 11th passouts to July 31 for this academic session, contrary to its previous deadline of September last year. Once a class 11th passout student applies for the change in subject, it takes a week or two on CBSE’s end for updating the subject. Only condition for changing the subject is that the student need to pass in the said subject. Many CBSE schools in Nagpur allow the students to continue with changed subject with immediate effect, while few await CBSE’s approval till they allow the students to attend classes for desired subject.

However this adds to dilemma of the students who are forced to pursue for time being, the subjects they no longer wish to study.

However, the management of many schools understands this and find no point in making the students attend same old subjects and simply wait for CBSE permission to come through. The new academic session for class 12th starts April and continue till May first week before it resumes back in last week of June.

As the CBSE takes time in sending back approval, the students are caught on cross roads as some schools abide by the norm that is written nowhere in CBSE rule book.

The schools which are lenient towards students’ choice, flexibly allow them to make the most in their time in attending to the subject they have switched to.
