CBI nabs WCL Finance Manager, Clerk while accepting bribe of Rs 2000

Nagpur News: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Nagpur has arrested Finance Manager, Sub Area Office, Niljay, WCL and Clerk , Sub Area Office, Niljay, WCL for demanding and accepting bribes of Rs 2000 each clearing pending bill of the complainant.

The CBI had registered a regular case  against accused M.L. Paul, Finance Manager, Sub Area Office, Niljay, WCL and Avinash Kakde, Clerk, Sub Area Office, Niljay, WCL under Sections 120-B of IPC and 7 of PC Act, 1988 on Tuesday (May 6) for demanding bribes of Rs 2500 and Rs 3000 respectively from Vasim Azim Khan, Proprietor of M/s. V.K. Motors, resident of Aziz Nagar, Near Masjid, Sarkar Nagar, Chandrapur, for not sending the bill for revalidation to Sub Area Office and passing the same in respect of repair work of Ambulance of WCL and its RTO passing, which was allotted to the complainant vide Work Order dated 19.01.2014.

On the basis of the said complaint, the alleged demand of bribe made by M.L. Paul and Avinash Kakde, was verified on 06.05.2014 in presence of an independent panch witnesses wherein both the accused agreed to accept a bribe of Rs.2000 each for clearing pending bill of Vasim Khan and not sending the same to Sub Area Office for revalidation.

Thereafter on the same day a successful trap was laid by the CBI team and accused M.L. Paul, Finance Manager, was caught red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.2000 from the complainant Vasim Khan in presence of independent panch witness. The bribe amount to the other accused, Avinash Kakade, Clerk could not be delivered he was also arrested for demanding bribe of Rs.2000 from the complainant. Both the accused were produced before the District Sessions Judge, Pandharkavda, Kelapur, Dist. Yavatmal on 07.05.2014, who granted them Police Custody Remand till 09.05.2014.
