Case of way-laying and mugging on the rise again

Nagpur: Unemployment, growing economic divide and the have-not struggling to earn a living is causing the youngsters to commit crimes. Two cases of mugging has come to fore in the past 24 hours. In the first case that occurred on July 12, 2015 at around 12:30 pm, the victim Vaibhav Sanjay Sonwane aged 20 years and a resident of Plot No 507, Nehru Nagar, Nagpur used to go to Gurudev Nagar Football Ground for playing.

Enroute to the Gurudev Nagar Football Ground, in the lane of Himalaya Bar falling within the jurisdiction of Shakardhara Police Station, two unidentified persons of approximately 20-25 years of age had stopped him and snatched Rs 15,000/- in cash from his pocket. After mugging the youth, they accused managed to flee from the spot.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim, Woman Police Inspector Yelkewad of the Shakardhara Police registered a case under sections 392 and 34 of Indian Penal Code against unknown accused and is investigating further.

In the second case which occurred on July 12, 2015 at around 22:30 pm, when the victim Shrawan Ramkhilawan Rao aged 26 years and a resident of a rented house of Prajapati, Fukat Nagar, New Binaki Mangalwari was going to his place of work, the accused identified as Sonu Sheikh Sheikh Aman aged 25 years and a resident of Chikli along with another co-accused had stopped the victim and snatched Rs 400/- from his pocket. When the accused were fleeing from the spot, the victim raised an alarm other passers-by gathered and managed to apprehend one of the accused Sonu Sheikh Sheikh Aman.

On the basis of the complaint lodged by the victim, Police Inspector Olankar of the Kalamna Police Station registered a case under sections 392 and 34 of Indian Penal Code against unknown accused and is investigating further.
