Car driver emerges mastermind in Rs 15 lakh loot in Nagpur

Nagpur: Wathoda police cracked the Rs 15 lakh loot case within 24 hours by arresting the car driver who emerged the mastermind in the robbery that took place on Monday.

The accused car driver Nitin Santosh Ganvir (34) had hatched a conspiracy with the help of two accomplices. According to police, Ganvir had been employed by the furniture businessman Vivek Kale just 15 days before he committed the crime. Vivek Kale had sent Ganvir to bring business related cash from clients two-three times in the last two weeks. After handling such huge cash, Ganvir became ill-intentioned and planned to commit the robbery. He roped in his two close friends in the crime. When Ganvir along with a trusted employee Gopal Bijewar of Kale went to Bhandara and collected the cash on Monday, he allegedly alerted his accomplices, police said.

Police further said that when Ganvir started for Nagpur, his two accomplices started following him in another car. They blocked Ganvir’s car near Tarodi area on Outer Ring Road. They enacted a drama by picking a quarrel with Ganvir for brushing past their vehicle and fled with the cash bag kept on the rear seat as planned, police said.

Following the robbery, an offence was registered by Wathoda police under Sections 394 and 34 of Indian Penal Code on the basis of a complaint lodged by Gopal Bijewar. During investigation, the police grew suspicious of Ganvir when the cops learnt that he had recently got the job. Initially, the accused tried to mislead cops and was not ready to confess his role till late Monday night. On Tuesday, the police quizzed Ganvir in their style and checked his Call Detail Records. Finally, he spilled the beans and revealed the names of his two accomplices. Now, the cops have launched a hunt to nab the accomplices.
