Cabinet expansion in State and the curious legislators!!

girish vyasNagpur: Recently, BJP’s Girish Vyas won the MLC election absolutely unopposed. Till the filing of nomination the nomination of present Mayor Pravin Datke was a certainty in BJP but at the last moment the picture changed. Candidature of Girish Vyas was declared. He filed the nomination and won too, unopposed.

In short, nobody can predict the happenings in politics. Nobody can guess who will lag behind and who will win the race. If one scans the newspapers before the Winter Session commenced, reports on Cabinet expansion had flooded the pages as if there was no other happening or event. News channels too got busy over guessing game on Ministry expansion. Subsequently, even a few legislators went for shopping and made new dresses available for themselves in the hope of bagging the coveted ministership.

The legislators had even decided in which language the oath they will take. Alas, the dreams of the legislators have turned out to be dreams of Mungerilal!! There are no visible signs of the much talked Cabinet expansion, at the present moment. In fact, no ministry expansion was planned or decided at all.

The Chief Minister is not so naïve to spoil the atmosphere of Winter Session. He had never planned the Cabinet expansion. And he has not done it. The Chief Minister is very clever. The Varhadi Brahman is not so stupid as others think. Devendra Fadnavis is an experienced young man and Chief Minister as well. First he will fill up posts in various Corporations and Boards and after the rivalry among people’s representatives subsides, then he will go for ministry expansion.

In the ministry expansion or reshuffle, many present ministers could asked to go home or their portfolios changed. A minister of state could be promoted to cabinet minister. The real trouble is Shiv Sena. There is possibility that Neelam Gorhe and Anil Parab winning the race to ministry at the cost of Sanjay Rathod and Ravindra Waikar who could be to work for the party. Shiv Sena could be the only party in the world whose maximum Vidhan Parishad members are ministers and the elected people’s representatives just clapping from outside.
