Nagpur:
Delegations of Bahujan Samaj Party, RPI (Athawale) and Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh on Thursday met Mayor Pravin Datke and Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar and submitted common memorandums regarding the proposed Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak at Patwardhan Ground near Yashwant Stadium.

The memorandums stated that the Nagpur Municipal Corporation, in a special meeting resolution dated 31.12.1992 had approved 29,920 sq ft area of land in Patwardhan Ground for construction of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak. However, in the General Body Meeting held in 2016, a proposal was put up for reserving 4797 sq ft of land out of the Smarak land for City Transport Stand (CTS). This is betrayal and injustice to followers of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar. In the past 24 years, the followers of Dr Ambedkar have been demanding entire space for the Smarak only. But every government in the past and the present one turned deaf ears to the demand. Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar was an architect of Indian Constitution and in this city he had launched Dhamma Kranti. This fact should not be forgotten, the delegations said in the memorandums.IMG-20160617-WA0032

The three parties demanded that only Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Smarak should be built at Patwardhan Ground. Not an inch should be allocated for other purpose. If the demand is neglected an intense agitation would be launched, the delegations warned.

The delegations comprised Vice President Krushnaji Bele, General Secretary Jitendra Mhaiskar, Secretary and Publicity Chief Sagar Dabrase, District President Nagorao Jaikar, Party Group Leader in NMC Goutam Patil, Corporators, all of Bahujan Samaj Party, Balasaheb Gharde of RPI (Athawale) and Raju Lokhande of Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh.
