Burglars strike big, booty worth Rs 11 lakh stolen from 3 houses in city

Nagpur: Even though the City Crime Branch netted serial burglars on Wednesday and solved four cases of house-breakings, the criminals on the same day struck at three houses in different areas and decamped with cash and gold ornaments collectively valued at over Rs 11 lakh. The red-faced cops now have mounted a search to nab the burglars.

In the first incident, a resident of Bungalow No. B1, Saisakshi Builders, near Sahyadri Convent, Hudkeshwar Road, Pipla, Nilesh Baburao Nemade (46) locked his house and went to Wardha along with family at his relatives on Tuesday. In the meantime, between 11.30 am of Tuesday and 8.30 pm of Wednesday, some unidentified miscreants gained entry into Nemade’s house by breaking open the kitchen door lock. The burglars laid their hands on cash Rs 3.13 lakh and gold ornaments worth about Rs 2.93 lakh kept in the bedroom cupboard. The theft came to light when Nemade returned home.

Hudkeshwar API Jitendra Gadge registered a case under Sections 454, 457, 380 of the IPC and searching for the thieves.

Similarly, the complainant Sheikh Imran Sheikh Jumman (38), resident of Plot No. 57, Shivangi Layout, Bada Tajbagh, along with family went to Katol to attend a Teravi ceremony on Tuesday. Taking advantage of the locked house, unidentified criminals entered his house by smashing the latch of the main door. The goons stole Rs 25,000cash and jewellery worth Rs 2.92 lakh.

Sakkardara PSI Amol Gharat booked the unidentified miscreants under Sections 454, 457, 380 of the IPC and searching for them.

In the third incident, burglars targeted the house of Maniram Narayanrao Wanjari (57) at Plot No. 15, Patil Nagar, Bhilgaon in Yashodhara Nagar police area on Wednesday. Wanjari locked his house and went to the wedding of his nephew at Waddhamna along with family. Around 8 pm, thieves gained entry into his house by breaking open the main door lock and decamped with cash Rs 35,000 and gold ornaments worth Rs 1.74 lakh kept in the wooden and steel almirahs in the hall.

Yashodhara Nagar API Ahire registered an offence under Sections 457, 380 of the IPC. Cops are searching for the burglars.
