Nagpur: In a major crackdown on motorcycles sporting illegal modifications, the city Traffic Police on Thursday initiated a special drive against vehicles with loud aftermarket or modified exhausts at total 48 spots across the city.
Though the drive prominently focused on Royal Enfield’s bullet motorcycles owing to their knocking noise, any other motorcycles that were fitted with a non-stock silencer also faced action of police, said Gajanan Rajmane, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Traffic to Nagpur Today.
“Besides issuing challans of Rs 1,000, the traffic police will enjoin violators to submit their licences or vehicle papers. The cops will hand-over the seized documents soon to the violators switch their modified silencers with the ideal ones,” said the DCP.
“Any motorcycle owner who has been using such illegal silencers should switch back to stock exhaust in order to avoid police action,” the DCP Rajmane appealed
