Brahmotsavam of Sri Balaji from Oct 22 at Seminary Hills temple in Nagpur

Nagpur: The Motibagh Sri Skanda Samaj is organising Brahmotsavam of Sri Balaji and Sri Skanda Shasti festival of Sri Kartikeya from October 22 to 28, and from November 1 to 8 respectively at Shri Balaji Kartikeya Temple premises, Seminary Hills, Nagpur.

On October 23, dwaja arohanam will be held at 8 am, and Sri Skanda Shashti festival will begin on November 2 with dwaja arohanam at 8 am, informed Satyamurty Kannan, Secretary; B K Agrawal, Vice President; Adv S Vishwanathan, Treasurer; and A S Vishwanathan, Joint Secretary, during a press conference held at the temple premises.

Jhoola Utsav will be held daily in the evening from October 23 to 26, and from November 2 to 7, during which idols of Sri Balaji with Sri Devi and Sri Bhoodevi, and Sri Kartikeya with Sri Valli and Sri Devasena will be carried in a decorated palanquin accompanied by Nadaswaram, chanting of Vedic hymns and bhajans. Abhishek of Sri Padmavathy Devi will be performed on October 25 from 5 pm to 6.30 pm.

The grand Balaji Kalyanam Mahotsavam will be performed on October 27 between 6 pm and 9.30 pm. ‘Deep Puja’ will be performed by women on October 25 at 10.30 am. Sri Skanda Shasti festival of Sri Kartikeya will commence on November 1 with ghatasthapana. Deepavali – Sahasra Deepam will be lit on November 1 at 6 pm. Maha Skanda Shasti day falls on November 7. Sri Valli Kalyanam will be held on November 8 between 6 pm and 9.30 pm.

Vaikhanasa scholars will conduct rituals during the festival. Cultural programmes will also be a part of the festival. Carnatic music and bhajan sandhya on October 24, bhajan sandhya by Lathangi Sisters from Udupi on October 26 at 7 pm. Students of Pratibha Nritya Mandir Nagpur will perform on November 3. A violin concert will be presented by Mylai Balambal, disciple of late Padma Shri Dr Kunnakudi Vaidyanathan on November 7 during evening hours.

Mahaprasad will be distributed daily to all devotees, and arrangements are made at the temple premises to cater to the needs of a large number of devotees expected to attend the festival.
