The series of flops that marred the previous month of November appear to be snowballing into December, as the much hyped Prabhu Dheva’s Action Jackson failed to yield the desired opening. It was expected that the long going flop trend would end with this Ajay Devgn starrer, but the result were just disappointing.

Action Jackson did not open up anywhere around expectations, even at the single screens, not to mention the multiplexes. Though Action Jackson has fared better at the single screens but given Ajay Devgn’s recent track record, the 55 percent start is nothing to write home about. The multiplexes are much lower at around 25 percent.

Meanwhile, last week’s three releases, Dharma Productions’ Ungli, Benaras Media Works’ Zid and Dr. Chandraprakash Dwivedi’s Zed Plus have all failed to enthuse the box office.

The fate of the Emraan Hashmi starrer Ungli is worse, as the film barely netted 15 crore during the opening week and is a box-office debacle. In case of Anubhav Sinha’s Zid, which netted around 7-8 crore, the low all inclusive cost (9-10 crore) will ensure that the film gets into profit zone once the non-theatrical rights are accounted for. The same holds true for the Adil Hussain starrer Zed Plus, which has netted around a crore during the opening week and is expected to be a big hit in the satellite and DVD circuit.
