Nagpur: A life policy holder woman was duped to the tune of Rs 2 lakh by a conman who posed as an insurance officer. Cops are now searching for the trickster.

A resident of Ambedkar Square, Lakadganj, Divya Narendra Hasrajani (48), told police that she received calls on her mobile phone from the unidentified accused between November 22 and December 2, 2017. The caller, posing as insurance officer, told her that if she deposits her Max Life Insurance instalment in other bank rather than Axis Bank, then she will receive 10 percent refund. With this glib talk, the trickster won Divya’s trust and gave her ICICI Bank account 629701096217 for depositing the policy premium. Divya deposited Rs 1.46 lakh in the account as told by the bogus insurance officer.

A few days after, the trickster called Divya again and told her that bonus has been credited to her account but she will have to deposit Rs 54,000 in the account of Bank of Badoda. He gave Divya the account number 08450100000421. Divya deposited the amount. This way, she deposited total Rs 2 lakh but received no refund and bonus. Divya soon realised she has been conned and approached Lakadganj police.

Police constable Ishwar has booked the unidentified conman under Section 420 read with Sub-Section 66(D) of IT Act and searching for him.
