Nagpur: An aged man who was distributing invitation cards of his son’s wedding was robbed of gold chain by a bogus policeman with scary trick in Nandanvan area on Monday morning.
A resident of Plot No. 73, Bhagyashri Nagar, Kharbi Road, Subhash Sampatrao Ghatate (59) was on Monday around 11.30 am distributing invitation cards of his son’s wedding. He was walking towards Rohit Family Restaurant. At the same time, an unidentified miscreant riding a two-wheeler accosted him and posed himself as ‘policeman.’ The bogus cops asked Subhash as to why he is walking alone as robbers are active in the area. With these scary words, the fake policeman told Subhash to remove his gold chain and keep it safe. As Subhash removed the gold chain, the miscreant asked him he will keep the gold chain in a paper. Later he diverted the attention of Subhash and grabbed the gold chain worth Rs 36,300 and vanished from the scene.
Nandanvan Woman PSI Chavan, based on Subhash’s complaint, registered an offence under Sections 170, 419, 420 of the IPC and searching for the bogus cop.
