Nagpur News: Peace in Chanmari area in Nagpur was shattered and tension ran high when body of an unidentified woman was found on Friday night. The body bore several stab wounds. The woman is suspected to be first raped and then murdered.
According to reports, Nandanvan police received information on Friday night that body of the woman, aged about 35 years, is lying in pool of blood near Bhandewadi Dumping Yard in Chanmari area. A team of police immediately rushed to the spot and found the body near a heap of garbage on the roadside. The woman’s head and other parts of body bore deep stab wounds probably caused by sharp-edged weapon(s). It is surmised that the woman was first raped (even gang-raped) and then eliminated in cold blood. The spot is very secluded and nearest house is about 400 meters away from the spot. Police also found some injuries on the back side of the body, generally caused by dragging, triggering a suspicion that the woman could have been raped and murdered at some other place and then her body thrown in Chanmari area.
After completing the preliminary enquiry and paper formalities, police have sent body of the woman to Government Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. An enquiry with the residents of nearby area failed to establish identity of the victim woman. Nandanvan Police Inspector Dhole is investigating the matter further after registering an offence.
When Nagpur Today contacted PI Dhole for further information, he said that the post-mortem report could reveal vital facts over the death of the woman. Police have launched a detailed investigation into the matter and teams of policemen are working to establish identity of the woman. Once the post-mortem report is received and the identity of woman is known, the probe will pick up the momentum and a breakthrough is expected, said the Police Inspector.
