NAGPUR: The monsoon session of Maharashtra State Assembly is starting from Wednesday. This is the second time in the history of Maharashtra State that the monsoon session is being held in Nagpur. It is also believed that this would be the current government’s last session in Nagpur, and therefore it is likely to witness flood of announcements from the government. On one hand, when the State government would be playing its ‘please-all’ cards, the Opposition has also tightened its belts to exert all possible pressure on the government.

Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ally in the State, the Shiv Sena, will also be the target as the Opposition has always maintained that the different tone of Shiv Sena was fake and unjust. The Opposition on Tuesday boycotted the tea party hosted by the State government on the eve of the monsoon session.

Meanwhile, while talking to reporters, Leader of Opposition in State Assembly Radhakrishna Vikhey Patil stated that the State government had failed on all fronts. Patil mostly targeted the Shiv Sena for fooling people by criticizing the BJP and at the same time enjoying share in power. He said the relationship between Shiv Sena and BJP was like the strained relationship of a husband and wife. He said that the Shiv Sena should stop fooling the people and instead wear a mangalsutra in the name of BJP.

Patil alleged that the government was misleading people by the schemes named after Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He said 10 farmers were committing suicides every day in Maharashtra. The government had gained expertise in making hollow promises to people of all communities. But whatever be their expertise, this government would not be there after October 2019, Patil claimed.

CIDCO scam not possible without CM’s role: Opposition

The Opposition stated that Chief Minister Devendra Phadnavis was directly involved in the allotment of CIDCO land to the close aide of BJP leader Prasad Lad at throw away prices. Radhakrishna Vikhey Patil said it’s a ‘clean chit’ government and therefore it could not be trusted any more. He said the Congress party would soon be filing a PIL seeking investigation by a High Court panel.

Govt insensitive towards farmers: Munde

Leader of Opposition in State Council Dhananjay Munde questioned the government’s intention of holding the monsoon session in Nagpur. He said they didn’t have any problem even if the government holds all the Assembly sessions in Nagpur, but the government must clarify their intention. Munde said the social media savvy CM didn’t find time to tweet on the incident of a bank official seeking sexual favor from a farmer’s spouse. Munde said, had the government been sensitive towards farmers, nobody could have dared to behave like that with a farmer.
