Bezonbagh schools on verge of closure; 3500 students on crossroads

Nagpur: BJP MLA Anil Sole has dashed a memorandum to State Education Minister Vinod Tawde, demanding not to shut down the two schools being run in Bezonbagh area.

These two aided schools – Gurunanak Primary School and Gurunanak Middle and Higher Secondary School accommodate run by Sikh Education Society, have a total of 3500 students. Besides, 59 teaching and non teaching staff also works in these schools in which children from different section of society come to study.

In his demand Sole pressed that the school is the largest running aided institution in Bezonbagh area with splendid results. The SSC board results for the last three years were respectively 99.4%, 99.18% and 98%, Sole said adding that 10-15 students from this school top merit list every year.

However the management was not getting any financial gain from these schools and so it has decided to shut down these schools and run CBSE schools instead.

The Deputy Director of Education has also sought a report in this regard.
