Nagpur: The Sarpanch of Besa and two others have been booked for manhandling and heckling a team of policemen on duty. The incident happened in the midnight of Monday.

The trouble started when Police Head Constable Pankaj Yadavrao Tambde (32) and his team, attached to Hudkeshwar Police Station, were on patrolling duty on Control Room Mobile Vehicle. The cops, at about 12.05 am of Monday, spotted the accused Surendra Banait and his two accomplices suspiciously loitering near a Masjid in Besa village. Head Constable Tambde and other cops asked Banait and others to leave the place. The directive of the cops infuriated the accused Surendra Banait who thundered that I am Sarpanch of Besa. A meeting is being held in connection with Gram Panchayat elections. With these words, the accused trio started manhandling and heckling the team of cops on duty.

Based on a complaint filed by Pankaj Tambde, Hudkeshwar PSI Sheikh has booked the Sarpanch of Besa and two others under Sections 353, 506, 34 of IPC and searching for them.
