Nagpur: In a major decision, the Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule, who is also Energy Minister, on Tuesday stayed erection of towers for 400 KV line from Koradi to Tilangi in Nagpur District.

The State-owned Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company Limited (MAHATRANSCO) and Adani Company are jointly carrying out the power line laying work through Bajaj Company. Till now, 90 percent of towers are erected in agriculture lands of farmers.

However, the farmers are not paid the compensation amount till to date. The affected farmers on several occasions held demonstrations and agitations demanding payment of compensation amounts.

Taking the matter seriously, the Guardian Minister Bawankule convened a high-level meeting of concerned departments and company officials and ordered payment of compensation amounts within seven days. Moreover, the Minister stayed further erection of towers unless the farmers, on whose lands at least 111 towers have been erected, are paid the compensation money.
