Mumbai: Plastic glasses, which have been banned by the State government from 23 June this year, were prominently used to drink water at a function attended by Chief Minister Devendra Phadnavis.
The Chief Minister attended a function organized at Varpa village in Kalyan tehsil on Sunday to mark the launch of plantation drive. It was informed that plastic glasses were openly used to serve water to all the participants at the function.
The other dignitaries, who were also present at the function, were Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, State’s Forest Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Thane’s Guardian Minister Eknath Shinde and Raigarh’s Guardian Minister Ravindra Chavan.
The State government has implemented complete ban on plastic material, barring a few, throughout Maharashtra from 23 June this year. State’s Environment Minister Ramdas Kadam had also endorsed the decision of the government. However, if the ban is to be violated by those who ordered it, what can be expected from the general public?
