Baghele Tricks in Big Ben’s Triumph

Nagpur: When most of the students want to become an MBA graduate, Mihir Baghele chose to complete his graduation in agriculture. Reason? “An agriculture graduate gets government job easily,” he said. The Aditya College of Agriculture, Beed, student Baghele used his brain cleverly on the football field, just like he did in choosing his career.

Baghele slammed a title winninghat-trick forBig BenJuniors as theWestHighCourt Roadclub thrashed Time Football Club3-1towresttheFirst Division JSW-NDFA crown on Tuesday at Divisional Sports Association Central Railways ground, Ajni. Baghele scored one in the firsthalf(35th) andtwomore in the second essay (50th and 63rd) to floor Time FC who had a sizeable ‘home’ support. Baghele looked threatening from the start. He and Aditya Ratnapari combined well in the initial period of the game and made some early forays onTime FCs citadel.

They came close to scoring in the 12th minute but his cross from left went abeging as Harsh Labade failed to tap the ball into opennet.Thoughthematchwas controlled by Big Ben Juniors, Time FC had their share of chancesbutwereunluckytofind the back of the net.

In the14thminuteSauravPatil’s right footer was beautifully cleared Big Ben Jr goalkeeper Shreyans Bhalodia. Inthe35thminute,Labade and Baghele combined well and the former tapped the ball towards anun marked Baghele who made no mistake in lobbing the ball over an advancing Time goalkeeper Suraj Ghinawar to make it 1-0.

But Big Ben Jr’s joy was shortlived as Time drew parity in the injury time of the firsth alf(45+2). Aditya Lahaban banged a power ful right footer from right top of the rectangle off a free kick which Bhalodia failed to clear and the ball bulged into the far corner of the net. In the second session, Big Ben Juniors continued their attacking game and Baghele stunned all by scoring his as well as team’s second goal in the 50th minute off a solo effort. The left winger took the ball from the centre line and surged into the rectangle. He lobbed the ball over the goal keeper to make it 2-1.

Labahan once again got a chance to level the scores in the 58th minute when he took a long shot but once again Big Ben Jr keeper Bhalodia thwarted his attempt by clearing the ball over the cross bar. Baghele completed his hattrick in the 63rd minute scoring his aswell ashis team’s third goal to take the match away from Time FC. Changing his position, Baghele chipped a pass from left into the net to make it 3-1.

The winners received a rolling trophy and a cash purse of Rs 7,500while the runners-upteam got a trophy and Rs 5,000. Mukul Verma, Works Head, JSW, was the chief guest of the prizedistributionfunction.Salim Baig, Advisory Committee Chairman, NDFA, was the guest of honour. Haresh Vora, NDFA president, Iqbal Kashmiri, Honorary Secretary, NDFA, Eugene Norbert, secretary, Stanley Gregory,Treasurer,NDFA, Satyanarayan Jerpot,AbidKhan, ArifKhan,KhalidAnsari and others were present during the prize distribution function.
