Nagpur: As they rightly say, “What goes around comes around”. Well that is what happens when one gets involved with criminals and accused. The youth is said to be part of a gang of youth. He had also landed into jail when the rival gang implicated him in a false case. The rival gang was waiting for an opportunity to eliminate him. But the police patrol which was on rounds spotted the crime in motion and averted what could have resulted in certain murder.
The victim youth identified as Rahul Gopalrao Khokle aged 28 years and a resident of Umred Road, Dighori Naka, Nagpur had gone to meet a friend of his in Gyaneshwar Nagar. However, some of his rival gang members gave a tip off about his arrival in the area.
The victim was collecting some funds from the residents of the Dighori Naka for celebrating Hanuman Jayanti. When he had gone to meet his friend, after having his dinner at around 1 am from Mominpura on March 31, 2015, the rival gang members whom the cops identified as Manish Tomaskar aged 28 years and Ritesh Tomaskar aged 30 years and resident of Aradhana Society, Besa Road, Nagpur along with some four other accused attacked Rahul Khokle with knives, sticks and stones in an attempt to kill him.
Sources added that three other accused were also involved in the case, identified as Vicky Tomaskar, Monu Challa and Sher @ Shailesh Ingole.
However, the cops who had prior information and premonition of some untoward incident, had reached the spot just when the crime was in motion. As soon as the accused saw the police officials, they fled the scene. Had the cops delayed even for a few more minutes, Rahul would have most certainly have been murdered. As the Hindi proverb rightly goes, “Jakey Rakho Saiyan, Maar Sakey Naa Koi”, meaning the victim had a providential escape from being murdered.
The Ajni Police officials took the injured to Government Medical College and Hospital and later to Government Dental College for treatment. The only injuries the victim Rahul sustained is the deep cut below the right side of the mandible (jaw), and under his chin. The victim has nearly 18-20 sutures.
The Ajni Police has registered a case of attempted murder and under section 307 of Indian Penal Code and under sections 143, 144, 146, 147, 148, 149 of Bombay Police Act. Further investigations are being conducted by Ajni Police officials. Reliable sources added that this attack on Rahul will not go unnoticed and this most certainly would spark off a gang war.
