Patna: A security guard was murdered during an ATM robbery by unidentified criminals in Patna early Saturday, police said.
The incident took place at the Central Bank ATM in Mayurna Lok Complex, barely few metres from the Kotwali police station in the heart of Patna.
Angry over the incident, local residents and relatives of the security guard blocked roads and burnt tyres. They demanded the arrest of those behindthe murder and compensation for the family of the victim.
According to police officials, prima facie, it appears that the armed criminals killed the security guard when he resisted their attempt to loot the cash in the ATM.
Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj told media persons that a probe is underway.
