At least 11 killed in suicide blast in Jalalabad

1453014598_jalalabad-blastJalalabad: At least 11 people were reportedly killed and more than 20 others injured in a suicide bomb blast at provincial council member’s house in Jalalabad in the Nangarhar province of Afghanistan on Sunday.

The provincial governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khoghyani, confirmed the casualties in the explosion, which took place inside the house of provincial council member Obaidullah Shinwari.

One of the injured has been identified as Shinwari’s father Malek Osman.

The suicide attack took place at about 10:20 am local time in PD3 in Jalalabad. The injured people have been shifted to city hospital.

Afghan security forces have cordoned off the area.

The incident occurred a day after foreign troops killed at least 17 Isis militants in airstrikes in the Dih Bala district of eastern Nangarhar province on Saturday.

However, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the suicide attack yet
