AOI- OCHRI Rhinofest 2016 successfully concludes

The Chief Guest Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Mumbai and Guest of Honour Dean of NKPSIMS, Nagpur Dr. Kajal Mitra lighting the traditional lampNagpur: New team of AOI Vidarbha branch was installed on 13.02.2016 at a glittering ceremony held at Hotel Centre Point, Nagpur for the year 2016-17. Dr. Surendra Gawarle, Professor and Head of the Department, Department of ENT, Vasantrao Naik Government Medical College, Yavatmal was installed as President and Dr. Samir Choudhary, Consultant, Department of ENT, Orange City Hospital and Research Institute, Nagpur was installed as Secretary of AOI, Vidarbha Branch along with his team for the year 2016-17.

Earlier the programme started with traditional lighting of Samai by Chief Guest Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Mumbai and Guest of Honour Dean of NKPSIMS, Nagpur Dr. Kajal Mitra. Out-going Secretary Dr. Nandu Kolwadkar read out the annual report of last year.

Dr. Surendra Gawarle in his acceptance speech said that “The new team will keep the tradition of excellent work and will organize many new projects such as live workshops and CME’S in coming years”. Guest of honor Dr. Kajal Mitra said that “LMC will extend all help to organize Live Workshops and Camps for the benefit of practicing young ENT surgeons.”

Additional Municipal Commissioner, Mumbai Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee, IAS, emphasized on the need of corrective and preventable measures to reduce the noise pollution in the society.

President AOI, Vidarbha Dr. Surendra Gawarle, in his presidential oration highlighted on “National Program for Prevention & Control on Deafness…..And miles to go!”

The other members of the new team of AOI, Vidarbha Branch were also installed. Dr. Shrikant Mahalle, Vice President, Dr. Sunil Shende, Treasurer, Dr. Ashish Chikhale, Joint Secretary, Dr. Sonali Khadakkar, Chairman Scientific, Dr. Abhishek Vaidya, Chairman Library. Dr. Vivek Harkare, Dr.Nitin Deosthale, Dr.Bhagyashree Bokare, Dr.Mangesh Gulwade, Dr. Gopal Belokar, Dr. Niraj Murkey and Dr. Siddheshwar Naringe were installed as Executive Members. Dr. Sunil Shende, Treasure Secretary AOI, Vidarbha, proposed formal vote of thanks while Dr. Dipti Jeswani and Dr. Ashish Chikhale conducted the proceedings.

Earlier the installation ceremony was preceded by “Rhino Fest 2016” a two-days Live Surgical Workshop on Rhinoplasty jointly organized by Orange City Hospital & Research Institute and AOI, Vidarbha Branch at Jaivik Auditorium, OCHRI. Udaybhaskar Nair, Chairman- Nairsons Group inaugurated the Live Surgical Workshop. Dr. Usha Nair, Director-Ravi Nair Hospitals Private Limited, and Dr. Anup Marar, Director-OCHRI were the guests of Nair stated that such CMEs and workshops should be ideally held in hospitals rather than hotels as the ambience is an appropriate place for such academic deliberations. Hence a new renovated Jaivik Hall with advanced audio visual systems was also commissioned at OCHRI during Rhinofest 2016 and dedicated by Uday Bhaskar Nair for utilization by medical fraternity.

Eminent ENT surgeons Dr. Brajendra Baser from Indore and Dr. Kshitij Patil from Amravati demonstrated their excellent surgical skill in live surgical workshop. MMC has accredited the event and awarded 4 credit points. Dr. Prashant Nikhade and Dr. Ashish Disawal were the MMC observers. Dr. Nitin Deosthale, Organizing Chairman, Dr. Samir Choudhary, Organizing Secretary, Dr. Nandu Kolwadkar, Organizing Co-chairman, Dr. Ajay Deshpande, Organizing Co-Chairman, Dr. Shailesh Kothalkar, Scientific Convener and Dr. Sonali Khadakkar worked hard for the success of Workshop. Dr. Smita Harkare, Dr. Neeta Deshpande and Dr. Anita Pande managed the required necessary anesthesia during the workshop skillfully.

This programme was attended by more than 120 eminent ENT surgeons and Plastic surgeons from all over India. Post graduate students from Vidarbha were prominently present and were enlightened and inspired by the newer techniques and intricacies of Rhinoplasty shown during AOI-OCHRI “Rhino Fest 2016”.
