Ambulance crushes man to death, injures brother in Hingna

Nagpur: A rashly driven ambulance crushed a pedestrian to death and injured another seriously in Hingna area here on Wednesday evening. The senseless driver of the ambulance fled the spot fearing angry reaction from nearby people. It could not be verified whether the ambulance was carrying any patient. The deceased and the injured were brothers.

The two brothers, Biranchi Purli Behra (50) and Shishir Pradanau Behra (45), both residents of Town Gondwana, were walking down the Kanholibara-Takalghat Road near their residence around 6.30 pm on Wednesday. At the same time, the recklessly driven ambulance (MH-33/G 619) knocked the two brothers with forceful impact. Biranchi came under the wheels of the ambulance and was crushed to death while Shishir suffered serious injuries. The driver of the ambulance fled the spot fearing backlash from the nearby people. The injured Shishir was taken to GMCH and being treated for injuries.

Hingna police constable V Bhalavi, on the basis of complaint lodged by Mamudkumar Hadanand Shahu (36), booked the absconding driver under Sections 279, 304(A) of the IPC read with Sections 134, 177 of Motor Vehicles Act and searching for him.
