Nagpur: Bajaj Nagar police on Thursday have arrested Akruti Advertising Agency owner Mandar Kolte on the charges of cheating many people, mainly the local newspapers, by issuing cheques that bounced for lack of sufficient amount in bank account. He was produced in a court which granted him bail on furnishing of personal bond, according to media reports.

The accused Mandar Kolte runs the Akruti Advertising Agency, situated at Plot No. 106, Surendra Nagar, near Vivekanand Nagar. Mandar gave advertisements worth lakhs of rupees in various newspapers through his agency. However, instead of paying the newspapers, Mandar allegedly gobbled up the advertisement money by himself. He is also accused of issuing cheques towards the pending dues but the cheques bounced for lack of sufficient amount in his bank account. Subsequently, a number of people lodged complaints against Kolte for cheating them. Some complainants approached police station while some aggrieved people directly apprised higher officials about large scale swindling by the accused Mandar Kolte. Subsequently, over two dozen warrants were issued against him. But the master duper managed to elude the police net, said the media reports.

But the luck seems to have deserted Mandar Kolte when Bajaj Nagar police personnel spotted him riding a two-wheeler on Thursday. Cops gave a hot chase and succeeded in nabbing him. The accused Mandar Kolte was produced in a court which granted him bail on furnishing of personal bond of Rs 17,500.

Notably, this is the second time that the accused Mandar Kolte has been arrested in cheating case. Earlier, he was arrested by Dhantoli police in similar cheating case.
