A crowd waiting to hear actor Ajay Devgn clashed with the police at a poll meeting venue in Biharsharief of Nalanda district when the star campaigner was late in reaching there. Devgn was to campaign for the BJP candidate Sunil Kumar who recently joined the party after quitting JD(U).

Devgn was supposed to reach the poll meeting ground at 10 a.m. but when there was no sign of him till 1 p.m. the crowd got restive. As they started pelting stones and chairs at policemen, police resorted to a lathicharge.

Police said around 12 people, including some policemen, were injured.

“A big crowd had gathered at the ground which eventually became unmanageable when the actor was delayed,” said Vivekanand, district superintendent of police.

Ajay Devgn’s copter hovered around the meeting ground at 1 pm and he waved to the crowd from the air. He did not land.
Earlier too unruly scenes were witnessed at Mr. Devgn’s poll meetings in Lakhisarai and Khagaria.
