An Air & Static display is being organised by HQ Maintenance Command and 44 Wing, Sonegaon at Air Force Station Sonegaon on 25 Nov 2012.

The air display will consist of flypast by Avro aircraft & SU-30 aircraft and sky diving by the IAF’s Akashganga team. The other displays include performance by Air Warrior Drill Team (AWDT) and Band display. Aero modeling show and static display of arms and other assets of the IAF will also be there.

The behind the scene preparation includes providing a safe and secured environment for the display, safety of the viewers and convenience of all the spectators.  “We would be providing the best to our guests” says Air Commodore SW Gosewade, the Air Officer Commanding of Air Force Station Sonegaon which is also known as 44 Wing in Air Force parlance”.

“No civil flight timings are being disturbed.  All civil flights would go as per their schedule and NOTAMS (Notices to Airmen) have been issued to this effect”, says Wing Commander Atul Gavandi who along with Group Captain Mokashi has arranged the operational aspect of the Air & Static display.

The entire airspace is being monitored for birds.  Bird surveys using Advanced Light helicopter and a bird hazard monitoring team, is being carried out.  Bird scarers to scare away the birds are also deployed by the AF Station round the clock.

The Nagpur Municipal Corporation & MIHAN authorities are assisting the Sonegaon authorities in maintaining the hygiene of the surroundings to prevent any bird menace.

According to Group Captain Atul Mohan, Chief Administrative Officer of the 44 Wing, “We have taken adequate measures to ensure the safety and security at the air & static display.  The Nagpur Police department is providing us with assistance for traffic & security.  Enough number of police personnel would be available for the ‘Bandobast’.  Parking arrangements are as per the invites.  I would request all the guests, through media that they should come early to prevent traffic snarls.”

Arrangement for medical and first aid have also been sufficiently made including provisioning of cardiac critical care ambulances and other rapid evacuation methods.

It is expected that over 3,000 school children would be in attendance.  They would be provided refreshment boxes and goodies bag after the show.
