Agitation can be withdrawn considering only on the basis of concrete decision taken by the Govt says Dr Dhage

As the Maharashtra Govt  is thinking  of invoking Maharashtra Essential Services Maintenance Act (MESMA) against the agitating teachers as hinted by Higher Education Minister Rajesh Tope on Tuesday,   Maharashtra Federation of college and University Teachers Organisation (MFUCTO)  will  be meeting on 3rd MAY in Pune to decide the future course of action.

Speaking  with ‘Napurtoday’ Anil Dhage , Secretary ,Nagpur university  Teachers Association (NUTA ) said, “ Agitation can be withdrawn considering only on  basis of concrete decision taken by the Government  and not on the basis of the proposals that may be taken for consideration in the course of time and without being source it sate.”

He further added  on the MESMA issue that recently during a interview to a newspaper  Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said that Government was not keen on extending MESMA on Teachers. The   issue of regularisation of non-NET /SET teachers appointed between September 19,1991 and April 3, 2000 was proving to be a bone of contention and the CM stated it as illegal.

The Government is not keeping its assurance which was given to the teachers said Dhage. A Meeting of college teachers under RTMNU and Gondwana  University has been scheduled at Dr.Panjabrao Deshmukh Hall, congress nagar to discuss  the present situation of the ongoing agitation and discussion held with Higher and technical Education Minister and apprising the teachers of the recent developments taking place.

The meeting on Thursday 2nd MAY  will have the senior leaders of teachers speaking on the issue and updating the teachers of the developments .Former MLC  BT Deshmukh, Nagpur University Teachers Association President Dr Pravin Raghuvanshi  , Secretary NUTA, Dr Anil Dhage, Dr Vilas Dhone, Dr Baban Taywade and Datttray Watmode will address the gathering.
