Nagpur: An elderly woman was robbed of her gold ornaments by two women co-passengers while travelling in an auto. The incident took place on Friday evening in Ganeshpeth area.
The aged woman Vimal Wamanrao Raut (70), resident of 122, Bapu Nagar, Umred Road, hired an auto from Bhande Plot Square for going to Chakreshwar Mandir in Bhaldarpura. Midway, the two unidentified women, in the age group of 35-40 years, also boarded the auto.
While travelling, the two accused women diverted the attention of Vimal and slyly removed two gold chains she was wearing and dropped out from the auto. The gold chains were valued at Rs 52,000. Vimal later realized she was robbed of her gold booty but it was too late. She approached Ganeshpeth police and registered a case.
PSI Gadekar has booked the two accused women under Sections 379, 34 of IPC and searching for them.
