Aged newspaper hawker attacked with knife by 3 men near Pratap Nagar Square

Nagpur: An aged newspaper hawker was attacked with knife by three unidentified men near Pratap Nagar Square in the wee hours of Tuesday. The old man received stab injuries on his hand. The reason behind the knife attack on the hawker could not be ascertained immediately. Motive of robbery or old dispute is being suspected.

A resident of Bhamti, the victim has been identified as Kiran Waghmare (66). Waghmare has been newspaper hawker since past many years. On Tuesday early morning, he was going to Pratap Nagar-based centre for collecting newspapers. Midway near a marriage hall, three unidentified miscreants stopped Waghmare and started beating him. One of the accused whipped out a knife and attacked Waghmare. However, the aged man thwarted the attack but received deep stab wound on his hand. After the attack, the three accused men fled the spot. The injured Waghmare anyhow reached the centre at Pratap Nagar Square and narrated the incident to his colleagues. A team of policemen also reached the spot and took Waghmare to GMCH where doctors applied stitches to the wound on his hand.

The motive behind the three accused men attacking Waghmare could be robbery or old dispute.

Cops have registered an offence and started investigation.
