Nagpur: In a spine-chilling incident, an aged man committed suicide by hanging to a tree after murdering his wife brutally in MIDC area on Tuesday night.
The deceased have been identified as Ramdas Shukkalkar (60) and Babitai Shukkalkar. Ramdas and Babitai had separated about seven years ago. Ramdas, who was working as security guard in a beer bar, was staying in Wanadongri along with his eldest son. Babitai, who was cook in a mess, was residing with her younger son. The husband-wife duo was always found quarrelling over one issue or another.
According to information, around 9 pm on Tuesday, Ramdas took Babitai out on some pretext. They reportedly went to Isasani Waghdhara jungles behind Kanhaiya City. As usual, Ramdas and Babitai indulged heated exchange of words. But this time the wordy duel took a bloody turn as Ramdas had a diabolic plan in his mind. He attacked Babitai with a knife and stabbed her repeatedly all over her body. After killing wife in cold blood, a “repentant” Ramdas ended his life as well by hanging to a tree in the jungle. The gory incident came to notice of a man in the early morning of Wednesday and he alerted the MIDC police.
A team of MIDC cops reached the spot and started investigations. They found Ramdas hanging to a tree and blood-soaked body of Babitai lying a short distance away. Babitai had around 10 stab wounds in her body. Cops also found a knife at the spot.
However, the exact reason behind Ramdas killing Babitai and later ending his life by hanging could not be verified.
