Nagpur: Beware students! This year Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) has banned 119 colleges colleges in Vidarbha region for non-compliance of necessary norms. Of these 18 colleges are recommended for closure while 101 have not applied for continuing their affiliation.
Shockingly these include 5 colleges of renowned Raisoni Group which has been into controversy over its affiliation with Nagpur University. These include GH Raisoni Academy for Creative Teaching (Marathi Medium) at Kingsway, Nagpur, GH Raisoni International Academy for Creative Teaching at Digdoh hills at Hingna Road, GH Raisoni College of Arts, Commerce, Science and Technology in Nagpur.
Interestingly, the website of GH Raisoni College of Arts, Commerce, Science and Technology, Kingsway, which is among the 101, was still flashing ‘admissions open’ on Thursday evening though it has been banned by NU. There are three additional institutes of Raisoni Group running from Madhav Nagari in Nagpur which have been recommended for closure. NU has forwarded the proposal to shut down these three colleges of Raisoni against its application. The names of these colleges are – GH Raisoni School of Management, GH Raisoni School of Management Studies and GH Raisoni School of Management and Research, all located in Madhav Nagari.
Besides. colleges being run by other educational barons are also included in the list. These include few colleges of Pandav Group, ‘Bapusaheb’ college, DV Science, Bang etc. Shankar Prasad Agnihotri College of Engineering (SPACE) a famed educational group based at Wardha is also included among the banned colleges.
The University’s Deputy Secretary Pradeep Binniwala has issued a public release including the list in order to warn students of refraining from taking admission to these colleges.
The complete list has been uploaded by NU on their website www.nagpuruniversity.org last week itself.
45 of these colleges are located in Nagpur itself while the rest are located at surrounding places like Koradi, Butibori,Kalmeshwar, Kamptee, Wardha and other towns.
