Accused of day-light dacoity

: With the efforts of Nagpur Crime Branch personnel and the Detective Branch (DB-Squad) of Yashodhara Police Station, the accused who had carried out a day-light in school director’s house were arrested late in the night of August 19, 2016.

According to police sources, around 6 accused had barged into a School Director’s house situated in HB Nagar and looted booty worth Rs 1. Lakhs on knife point. The goons had allegedly locked the three women in a room before fleeting the spot. The cops said that the incident occurred at Plot No A-137, HB Nagar, Near Chikhli over bridge at 1:30 pm when complainant Sunanda Bharat Parate aged 45 was at home along with her maid Lilabai Rambhad aged 65 years and a neighbor lady identified as Chetna Kolhe aged 46 years.

The goons had allegedly come in a car and barged into the house. When Sunanda Parate enquired their identity, one of the goons had allegedly claimed that her son had raped his sister. Angered over this wild allegation, Sunanda had asked the goons to immediately leave the place.

After that, the goons whipped out their knives and threatened Sunanda and the two other women present in the house. The goons had snatched the gold ring, Mangalsutra and other ornaments and locked all the three women inside a room from outside. Three of the goons had allegedly gone to the second floor and removed Rs 40,000/- in cash kept in an almirah and fled the spot in the car in which they had arrived.

Once the women ascertained that the goons have left the spot, they raised an alarm for help and the neighbours rushed into their home to release them from the room in which they were locked. The cops of Yashodhara Police Station rushed to their home on receipt of information where they came to know what had happened in the house of Sunanda Parate. Senior police officials too had visited the crime scene.

While addressing a press meet, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ranjan Sharma said that the squad of Crime Branch (Zone-V) led by Police Inspector Vaibhav Jadhav had carried out a combing operation in the city starting immediately after the receipt of the case details. Assistant Police Inspector Vikrant Sagne and Head Constable Sidam received a confidential tip off about the identity of the accused. The entire crime branch swung into action. The Cyber Cell too played a vital role in the detection of the case. They had provided support by way of providing tower location of the accused etc. The accused who were finally nabbed were identified as:

  • Moreshwar Narayan Shripal aged 43 years and a resident of Vinoba Bhave Nagar
  • Nitesh alias Chotu Kalya Yadav Satokio aged 23 years and a resident of Dhammadeep Nagar
  • Yashwant Ramesh Jagtap aged 18 years and a resident of Dhammadeep Nagar slums
  • Rahul Vinayak Walde aged 21 and a resident of Dhammadeep Nagar slums
  • Umesh Bhaiyalal Manghate and a resident of Chikli Layout slums, Kalamna
  • Kishore Ramesh Hatwar aged 33 years and a resident of Flat No 103, Neha Apartment, Dighori.

Two other accused identified as Anwar and Afzal are said to be absconding. The vehicle Indica Vista bearing RTO Registration Number MH-40/AC 5133 that the goons used for committing the dacoity was also seized by the crime branch.

The car Indica Vista costing Rs 3 lakhs, Moped Assess worth Rs 30,000/- in all goods worth Rs 3,30,000/- was seized by the cops. Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ranjan Sharma said that MCOCA may be slapped on the accused.

This car is said to be owned by a lady identified as Sarita Rajendra Raut. Sources said that there are cases registered against this lady Sarita Rajendra Raut and her husband Rajendra Raut in Hudkeshwar Police Station. In that matter Rajendra Raut is said to be absconding, while Sarita Raut has got Conditional Bail.

The kingpin of this entire dacoity matter was said to be Kishore Ramesh Hatwar. Sources in the police claimed that Kishore Hatwar and Sarita are in some sort of amorous relationship. This could be why Kishore Hatwar has the car of Sarita Indica Vista with him. Sources claimed that there is a case of murder registered against Kishore Ramesh Hatwar in Kuhi Police Station, Panchgaon.

Accused of day-light dacoity
There are cases registered against almost every accused nabbed in this case. Further investigations are underway by the Yashodhara Police personnel.

Joint Commissioner of Police Santosh Rastogi has rewarded Assistant Police Inspector Vikrant Sagne with a cash award of Rs 15,000/- and Head Constable Sidam has been given a cash award of Rs 10,000/-.
