Accused bookie of IPL Sunil Bhatia booked under MCOCA for scripting Ajay Raut kidnapping case

Arresting Sunil Bhatia sends shivers in other bookies 

Sunil Bhatiya and Raju BhadreNagpur: Many other skeletons seem to be tumbling out from the cupboards in Ajay Raut kidnapping episode. Another accused identified as Sunil Bhatia, a city-based bookie named in the infamous IPL spot fixing case, was picked up from a reputed hotel of Mumbai, near the Santacruz Domestic Airport, Mumbai on March 3, 2016.

He was brought to Nagpur on transit warrant and presented in the court today the March 4, 2016.

The Court has in-turn permitted the Nagpur Crime Branch to arrest him and slap Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) on him for his alleged involvement in the Ajay Raut kidnapping case.

Sources in Nagpur Crime Branch said that the entire script for the kidnapping was penned by Sunil Bhatia.

Sunil Bhatia was presented before judge of MCOCA Court, Justice V T Suryawanshi who has granted Police Custodial Remand to Sunil Bhatia till March 11, 2016.

Earlier during sustained investigation carried out in the Ajay Raut kidnapping case, it had come to fore that Raju Bhadre was the mastermind in the entire case. Apart from Raju Bhadre, the other three accused Diwakar Baban Kotulwar, Ashish Baban Kotulwar and Kushal alias Jallad alias Pahelwan Thool knew about the kidnapping. During sustained interrogation another name that had cropped up was Sunil Bhatia, who was picked up after the completion of the formalities of slapping MCOCA on all the accused.

Under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Ranjan Sharma, Assistant Commissioner of Police Nilesh Raut is personally said to be investigating and questioning the accused Sunil Bhatia.
