ACB nabs Senior Clerk, Education Department red-handed while accepting bribe of Rs 2000

Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Nagpur on Monday nabbed a Senior Clerk working in Office of Deputy Director of Education, Nagpur Division, red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 2000.

According to ACB, the complainant Krushnaji Dodku Bansod retired as a teacher from Panchsheel High School, Vaishali Nagar, Nagpur. However, the Senior Clerk Upendra Sharadchandra Shrivaskar (45), working in Office of Deputy Director of Education, Nagpur Division, demanded Rs 2000 as a bribe from Bansod for completing formalities regarding fixation of pensionary or retirement benefits and sending the papers to higher authorities as well. Taken aback by Shrivaskar’s demand for bribe, Bansod immediately approached the ACB, Nagpur and lodged a complaint against him.

The ACB sleuths, acting the complaint, laid a trap at Office of Deputy Director of Education, Nagpur Division. As soon as Shrivaskar demanded and accepted Rs 2000 bribe from Bansod, the ACB sleuths pounced on him and caught him red-handed. The ACB then registered an offence with Sitabuldi Police Station under sections of Prevention of Corruption Act 1988. Further investigations are underway.

The action was initiated by Police Inspectors Vinod Dighore and Ashok Sakharkar, constables Vilas Khanke, Santosh Pundkar, Ajay Yadav, Chandrashekhar Dhok, Subhash Tanodkar under the directive of Superintendent of Police Prakash Jadhav and Additional Superintendent of Police Ashok Shirbhate.
