Nagpur News: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Nagpur Police nabbed a Pay and Accounts Officer of Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapith (PDKV) on Friday for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 for clearing bills of a contractor.

According to ACB, the complainant Pradeep Haribhau Chaudhary, resident of Vidya Nagar, Nandanvan, Nagpur, runs a business of creating flex boards of various offices and is a Government contractor. Pradeep had carried out works of making two flex boards of Agriculture College near Maharajbagh and a board of Horticulture Department, both run by PDKV, in January/February. Subsequently, three bills amounting to Rs 44,360 were pending in Nagpur Office of PDKV. However, the Pay and Accounts Officer Rajendra Krushnarao Poyam (37), resident of NARP Quarter No. 3, Opp Crims Hospital, demanded Rs 5,000 as a bribe from Pradeep for clearing the bills. Simultaneously, ACB officials launched a search at Poyam’s residence in Ramdaspeth. An offence has been registered at Sitabuldi Police Station and Poyam has been booked under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act.
