“Abhay Yojana-2017” turns out to be a ‘monumental failure’ as NMC garners only Rs 23,63 crore

Nagpur: The amnesty scheme “Abhay Yojana-2017” launched by Nagpur Municipal Corporation to recover pending dues of Property Tax from defaulters has turned out be monumental failure as the civic body could garner only 23.63 crore as against the target of Rs 191 crore. The amnesty scheme was operative from March 16 to March 31, 2017. On the last day of the scheme only Rs 5.23 crore were mopped up by the NMC.

Following are the figures of Property Tax dues collected on March 31. Figures in brackets show amount collected during the period of the scheme:

• Laxmi Nagar Zone 1: Rs 87.78 lakh (Rs 4.63 crore)
• Dharampeth Zone 2: Rs 70.21 lakh (2.42 crore)
• Hanuman Nagar Zone 3: Rs 26.35 lakh (Rs 1.11 crore)
• Dhantoli Zone 4: Rs 61.70 lakh (Rs 87.87 lakh)
• Nehrunagar Zone 5: Rs 18.11 lakh (Rs 70.77 lakh)
• Gandhibagh Zone 6: Rs 38.67 lakh (Rs 1.27 crore)
• Satranjipura Zone 7: Rs 24.80 lakh (Rs 69.53 lakh))
• Lakadganj Zone 8: Rs 36.90 lakh (Rs 1.67 crore)
• Ashinagar Zone 9: Rs 66.20 lakh (Rs 2.23 crore)
• Mangalwari Zone 10: Rs 92.34 lakh (Rs 2,75 crore)
