Nagpur: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation has passed an order vide a circular GEN-1087 / 1286/ CR-96 /87/ Navi/10, dated April 22, 1987, that all the abattoirs will remain closed on January 26, 2015 in view of Republic Day. This order will be valid throughout the jurisdiction of Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
A slaughterhouse, abattoir or meat-works where animals are killed for consumption as food on a large scale poses significant public aversion or religious sentiment in many places in the city. In view of this the NMC from time to time decides the days when the slaughterhouses will remain closed.
Those violating this order will have to face penal action by Nagpur Municipal Corporation.
