Nagpur: In yet another investment fraud or Ponzi scheme, hundreds of gullible citizens were robbed of their hard-earned money with the lure of lucrative returns. The only difference is the area and the name of company. On Friday morning, tension ran high and panic reigned supreme in Hudkeshwar when a large number of investors mobbed the office of a company that had promised astronomical returns to them. The investors had parked their money in crores but were neither paid interest nor returned their money since the past two months causing mobbing of the company office and a vociferous demand to return their investment. The volcanic situation soon reached Hudkeshwar police station which deployed its personnel in posse to avert any untoward incident. Cops have sealed the office and mounted an in-depth investigation into yet another investment scam. The city is already reeling under the high-profile, multi-crore investment scams with fraudsters Wasankars, Joshis, Agrawals and the likes wreaking havoc and looting gullible citizens.

According to reports, in the instant case, Hemlata Chirkute was running a company named Alina Employ Consultancy from ‘Shrisamarth Krupa Nivas,’ Amrapali Nagar, Hudkeshwar Road. With glib talk and lure of high-returns, Hemlata allegedly asked the citizens to invest their money ranging from Rs 5000 to amounts in lakhs. Apart from the citizens, a horde of businessmen from Itwari, Gandhibagh, Mahal and other areas too invested their money in huge amounts with the ‘greed’ of pocketing high returns. It was, to a certain extent, okay as some of the investors received the returns. However, since the past two months, the investors were left high and dry with not a single penny being paid to them in the form of interest on their investment. The non-payment of interest to hundreds of investors sparked panic resulting mobbing of the company office.IMG-20151204-WA0065

Sources said that Hemlata initially started her company in Pardi. The Hudkeshwar office was opened around nine months back. Hemlata allegedly offered Rs 3000 as commission on the investment of Rs 5000. Similarly, Rs 4000 commission on Rs 7500, and so on so forth. Hemlata also used to lure investors of Rs 20,000 with Rs 3000 interest per month for lifetime. However, the harsh reality soon downed and the investors in large numbers made a beeline to demand return of their invested money. The situation reached the boiling point when the crowd did not find Hemlata or any one in the office. Police had to pacify the enraged people with the words that Hemlata had assured to return the investors’ money.

Nevertheless, Hudkeshwar police have launched an in-depth probe into the matter.
