A day after the Taliban terrorists attacked the Army Public School in Peshawar and killed at least 141 people in cold blood, including 132 students, several schools in Nagpur paid their tribute to the victims on Wednesday. The attack has also sent alarm bells ringing. Principals of many schools in city not only condemned the dastardly attack but also took the security of students seriously. When Nagpur Today talked to some Principals on security aspects in the wake of the attack, they informed of stepped up vigil and necessary security measures in place.
The measures:
Several schools have immediately deployed security guards to keep vigil at entry gates. The guards have been directed to keep away strangers wandering near the gates. Police have been requested to patrol the school areas once the schools start and at the time when the schools are over. Some schools have installed CCTV cameras at vantage points near the entry gates and at other places in the premises. Vigilance employees have also been appointed to man the CCTV cameras. Police verification of some employees of schools is also being done afresh and a sharp eye is being maintained on their activities. Auto drivers who ferry students are also under close watch. Some schools are contemplating giving training to students on how to escape to safer places in an emergency situation, said the Principals.
