The Nagpur Railway Station went into the “Hand” of thousands of roaring, booming Congress leaders and workers who captured every inch of the sprawling building to accord an unprecedented welcome to the newly appointed City Congress President Vikas Thakre. Vikas Thakre arrived in city by train from Mumbai for the first time on Friday morning after receiving the appointment letter from MPCC President Manikrao Thakre appointing Vikas as the Nagpur City Congress Committee President.

The well-wishers and close aides of Vikas Thakre, Prashant Dhawad, Deepak Wankhede, Manoj Golawar, all Corporators and other leaders, started great preparations to accord a grand welcome to the newly appointed City Congress chief the day his arrival date to Nagpur was announced. The Railway Station premises started receiving swarms of citizens, well-wishers, party leaders and workers from 9 am itself. And just before the arrival of the train of matter, the number of welcomers reached to thousands including a large presence of women. And when the moment arrived the crowd went exhilarating with high-pitched slogans welcoming Vikas Thakre reverberated the entire Railway Station and its premises.
Those who prominently garlanded and welcomed the new City Congress President include Corporators Prashant Dhawad, Arun Dawre, Vijay Barse, Prashant Chopda, former Corporators Rajesh Nagrare, Vijay Pakhale, Anil Machhale, Deepak Wankhede, Kamalesh Samarth, Raman Paigwar, Raju Vyas, and hundreds of others. After receiving the unprecedented welcome, Vikas Thakre and his cavalcade, consisting hundreds of party leaders and workers, went to Ganesh Tekdi Mandir where he performed “Puja” of Lord of Wisdom.
After performing “Puja” at Ganesh Tekdi Mandir, Vikas Thakre and the cavalcade reached Devadia Bhavan, the City Congress Headquarters and culminated into a massive welcome meeting. Those present at Devadia Bhavan include Nagpur MP Vilas Muttemwar, former MP Gev Awari, former City Congress Presidents Jaiprakash Gupta, Sheikh Hussain, South Nagpur MLA Dinanath Padole, and others. After the grand welcome and the meeting, the outgoing President Jaiprakash Gupta handed over the reins of Nagpur City Congress Committee President to Vikas Thakre amidst huge applause by those present on the occasion. The citizens in large number also welcomed Thakre along the route to Devadia Bhavan from Ganesh Tekdi Mandir.
