Mumbai: A man was detained from the Mumbai airport runway in a bizarre incident that left airport authorities shocked. The man was spotted by the pilots of a SpiceJet flight who alerted airport security.
Following this, a team of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), which provides security to the Mumbai airport, went to the runway and detained the man.
The man was detained from the Mumbai airport’s Runway 27 and was spotted by the pilots of SpiceJet Flight SG634, a Mumbai-Bengaluru service, which was waiting to takeoff.
Initial reports suggest that the man is mentally unstable.
Airside areas of airports, where airplace parking bays, taxiways and runways are located, are highly secure zones to which the general public does not have access.
