Nagpur:
The city unit of Aam Admi Party (AAP) is not ‘impressed’ by the unprecedented victory of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the NMC election. The leader of the party Jammu Anand, in a statement, said that BJP is deliberately calling its show in the local body poll as ‘sterling.’ “It is, on the other hand, is not right. BJP’s 108 candidates became Corporators. The party should have won at least 135-140 seats given the fact that 10 legislators, six MLAs and four MLCs, reside in Nagpur city. Moreover, the city is home to three Members of Parliament (MPs), Chief Minister and a Union Minister. On the other hand, Congress is a divided house. Opposition is equal to nothing. In this scenario, BJP should have won at least 135-140 seats in the NMC poll,” Jammu Anand quipped sarcastically.

At a meeting of party workers, the AAP came to the conclusion that the Prabhag system helped BJP win 108 seats. In the four-member Prabhag, the party got benefit of winning three more seats rather than only one seat.

Congress has totally failed to expose misrule of BJP. The party has been ruling the NMC since past 10 years but Congress failed to count on failures of BJP. The local people were a dejected lot as the BJP had not lived up to the promises it had made. On the other hand, Congress targeted demonetization and Modi as if the party has no other local issues to raise during the poll drive, the AAP said in the statement.

The meeting was attended among others by Jammu Anand, Ravikant Wagh, Adv Arvind Waghmare, Rajesh Paunikar, Manoj Soni, Deepak Sane, and others.
