Nagpur: In a heart-wrenching road tragedy that has left a family shattered, a 45-year-old man lost his life after being crushed under a speeding bus in the heart of Nagpur on Tuesday afternoon.
The horrific accident occurred near Zero Mile, close to Metro Pillar No. 215 under the jurisdiction of Sitabuldi Police Station. Eyewitnesses described the scene as chilling, with the impact so brutal that it left onlookers shaken.
The deceased has been identified as Ritesh Pundlik Satpute, a resident of Premnagar, Jhanda Chowk. Ritesh, who worked in medicine delivery, was the sole breadwinner of his family, living with his wife Mayuri and their two young children, eight-year-old Shivansh and 12-year-old Srishti.
According to police, Ritesh had stepped out in the morning as part of his daily routine on his motorcycle. Around 12:15 pm, while travelling from Samvidhan Chowk towards Zero Mile, his life was tragically cut short. A speeding e-bus, allegedly driven recklessly by Sheikh Sarwar Sheikh Sagir, attempted to overtake near a roadside eatery when it rammed into Ritesh’s bike.
The force of the collision threw him onto the road. In a horrifying turn of events, the rear wheel of the bus ran over his head, killing him instantly.
Panic and chaos gripped the area as passersby rushed to the spot and alerted the police. Officers arrived promptly, conducted the necessary procedures, and shifted the body to Mayo Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s brother, Shyam Satpute, police have registered a case against the bus driver and initiated an investigation.
Behind the grim statistics of another road accident lies a grieving family, a wife who lost her partner and two children who will now grow up without their father. What remains is not just the memory of a tragic accident, but a painful reminder of how reckless driving continues to claim innocent lives on city roads.
