Nagpur Crime Branch Solves Bus Theft Case, Four Accused Arrested

Nagpur: In a major breakthrough, the Chain Snatching Squad of the Nagpur City Police Crime Branch has successfully solved a mangalsutra and valuables theft case reported under the limits of Gittikhadan Police Station.

The incident occurred on February 14, 2026, between 3:25 PM and 3:45 PM, when 66-year-old Manorama Sudhakarrao Adam was traveling in a city bus (MH-49 BZ-2503) from Bishop Cotton School bus stop to Mangalwari Chowk.

During the journey, an unidentified accused allegedly stole a purse containing cash and gold ornaments worth ₹60,500 from her bag. The victim was traveling along with her disabled husband and granddaughter at the time of the incident.

Following the complaint, a case was registered at Sadar Police Station, Nagpur under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

Four Accused Arrested, Gold Worth ₹1.4 Lakh Seized

During the investigation, the Crime Branch team tracked down and arrested four accused from the Ajni area.

During interrogation, the accused reportedly confessed to committing the theft in coordination. Police recovered approximately 10 grams of gold ornaments valued at ₹1.4 lakh from their possession.

Operation Conducted Under Senior Officials’ Guidance

The operation was carried out under the supervision and guidance of senior officials, including Ravinder Kumar Singal and Navinchandra Reddy of the Nagpur City Police.

Police officials confirmed that further investigation is underway to identify possible links to other similar theft cases in the city.
